Kindergarten Kenz
She loves it!
So far, she loves everything about it. The teacher, the friends, the homework, the lunches, the playground, the backpack...and her newest love? the little red smiley faces the teacher draws on her schoolwork.
I love it, too!
Though, I don't quite love everything about it. I sure miss that girl throughout the day (seriously - school goes from 9:00 until 3:30 - - - did someone miss the fact that she's FIVE???). She's left a quiet little space in the home that I can't seem to fill ... and, I'll admit that a few tears have been shed for my own loneliness as I deal with the fact that my best little friend is gone for most the day.
But - I still love it. I love the new independence McKenzie radiates; I love hearing about her gym class, and math class, and friends; I love being home with my two little guys all day; I love watching Carson as he enjoys playing by himself; but the thing that I love the most is ironically the very thing that breaks my heart: watching my precious little girl grow - physically and emotionally. She is so beautiful in so many ways...
Enjoy your kindergarten year, love!

My twins went to all day kindergarten last year and a piece of me went with them. It was so difficult to lose 2 at once. It was so hard to have them gone all day! I cried when each of my 4 girls started school...these babies all grow too fast!
ReplyDeleteShe's not really old enough, is she? I love the tennis balls on the chairs.
ReplyDeleteI don't exactly know how you feel. My little kenzie starts headstart next month. She will only go half a day but I am going to miss her like crazy. I know Erika will miss her like crazy because loves to do whatever Kenzie is doing.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think going all day would kill Katherine. She's very worried about going to kindergarten and wants to go back to pre-school. School starts for her on the 27? I still don't know anything because the school sends a letter with teacher and am or pm and all that info. Still have yet to get it, which is very frustrating. I'm sure I'll be crying too though. I did when she went to pre-school. Good luck my friend!
ReplyDeleteI agree, full day is waaaay too long for a 5 year old. But kids are resilient and she will adapt to the new hours.....and maybe even more important, so will you! Thanks for who you are, I'm really proud of you.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'm loving? That Tinker Bell backpack. Excellent choice! I'm glad she's having a great experience. I cannot believe she is old enough to be in school.
ReplyDeleteOh she will do great I am sure of it, plus she looks so cute! Lily was in kindergarten all day too. For the first couple of months she was really tired, but really all in all did great. Plus I felt like she learned alot too. Emma starts all day kindergarten next week. So I will have two kids gone all day. I am a little excited about that but in the sametime I am very sad about it. My kids are growing up. Lily had to pick out her school clothes this year. Plus she is almost 8! They really do grow up so fast! Good luck sweet girl! I am sure you will do great!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I remember this well! I promise that by mid-summer break next year you'll be wondering when school starts!
ReplyDeleteI miss you!! Please let us know how you and your cute family are doing!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe she's in kindergarten too? Hunter is sooo excited to start here. When Christiana went to kindergarten we were in a different school district and it had full day. It was wonderful. In our new district they have 1/2 day and I have mixed emotions about it. I think Christiana would have struggled with 1/2 day as she was used to going to day care for all day. But Hunter would have done fine with it too. But he will do great with 1/2 day. So hard to believe its been over 5 yrs since we were pregnant together. Just watch out, this is when they really start to grow up! Love ya!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Linds! It makes my heart happy to see all your photos here! We miss you all so much! I hope that Kenz is doing well still! And I hope that you know how much you are missed in our home! Can you guys just be done with the whole residency thing!?! And can you tell Carson that Megan lubs him and misses him saying that, too. We have started saying that we Lub Eli now just so that we can keep hearing Carson's sweet little voice. I Lub you too, Linds : )
