Yet Another Reason I Love My Mom -

~
I looked at my watch last Friday night: 8:30. I thought, "It's 7:30 in the morning in Thailand...and I miss my parents terribly. They've already been up for a couple of hours because of seminary - I think I'll give them a call." On the fourth ring, I realized it was Saturday morning in Thailand - Amber didn't have seminary. I then knew it was a little early to be calling them.

I heard my mom's tired voice pick up the phone. "Hello, sweetie." she said.
"Oh, mom - I just realized it's Saturday for you...I hope I didn't wake you up."
"That's alright," she said. Darn - I did wake her up. "You're worth it," she added
"How did your night go?" I asked. She then told me that they had gotten very little sleep all night with so many calls from the missionaries and a guard ringing their doorbell at 2:00 am because their front gate was unlocked. But, she talked to me with a smile in her voice - and I really knew she was glad that I called.

I am such an unhappy person in the mornings...if McKenzie came into my room earlier than expected and woke me from my sleep, I know I wouldn't say, "That's alright. You're worth it." I would probably just point my finger at the door and say, "Go back to bed." I still have so much to learn from my mom......

  4. Oh how I miss your mom Lindsay. I've always been amazed with her. She has an ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. I loved being at your house and feeling cared about. Now that I'm a parent I hope to be as loving to my children as well as their friends. I'm also now realizing how much your parents must have spent on groceries for your friends to have snacks when we came over. I still have dreams about your parents' pantry, only now I dream of having one similiar for my children and their friends. Oh, to be like GundaLee! Now THAT is a worthy goal. Please pass on my love to both of your parents.

  5. I laughed when you said that you send mackenzie back to bed because I do that every morning with nicholas. On time I gave him a clock and said that he couldn't wake up until the numbers said 7:30. When 7:30 came he Jumped up and down and shouted " YEA! Now we can wake up! HOORAY!!!!!" I wish I was that excited about waking up in the morning!
